Removed from Ourselves
A nearby lightning strike before Hurricane Irma was probably the cause. Though the actual reason matters little now. The electrical fixes helped me learn more about life.
Neither my boat’s navigation lights, its masthead light nor my watermaker were working, while everything else electronic was functioning fine. Two others confirmed the probable reason. As I went about repairing these electrical malfunctions, I started to imagine how human use and view of electricity is similar to how mankind views Nature.
While an explanation may clarify why lightning caused some of my electronics to burn out, there was nothing I could do to prevent the outages. Nature’s energy is far superior to man’s. Learning to adapt to that reality is an important lesson.
As the four outages became functioning one again, I know I will have a greater appreciation for how they improve my time on the boat.
