 Henry Lane is a retired private high school teacher, coach and administrator. For 25 years and then 13 as a private tutoring business owner, Henry dedicated his adult life to teaching and learning.  Born and raised on Maryland's Eastern Shore and  Chesapeake Bay , Henry,  representing Tred Avon Yacht Club, in Oxford, Maryland,   sailed and  raced Penguins  and Lasers competitively.  He eventually taught sailing at  Sachem's Head Yacht Club  and  Pequot YC in Connecticut.  As a lifelong seafarer, Henry has sailed transatlantic from Newport, RI to Bodo, Norway; crewed on numerous races to Bermuda,  voyaged much of Maine's  coast,  the Caribbean, Belize,  Abacos Islands and the  Dalmatian Coast near Croatia.  In 2008 he purchased  Mystique , a 40' Leopard catamaran and eventually sailed  it from St. Maarten to Florida.  In recent years he has cruised the Bahamas and Exumas from his home in southeastern Florida.  In 2016 he sailed his cat solo round trip from Florida to the Exumas Islands  for 51 days.  His blog focuses on numerous personal exploits, insights and observations related to sailing and the sea.
